“There is a growing use of social media in responding to and recovering from major incidents and disasters. In many cases the use of social media is unmanaged and just allowed to “happen”.  Arguably this is due to a lack of understanding of social media as a phenomena and how it can most effectively be used and managed in such situations. The purpose of the San Diego Critical Sector conference is to explore the structure and potential use of social media: what it is, who uses it, the various SM tools available, how they’ve been used in recent major incidents and how they can best relate to the protection and resiliency of our region’s critical infrastructure.  Highlights of the program will include experts from Sempra Energy presenting a case study of the use of social media during the Fall 2011 major power outage in Southern California, Arizona and Baja California.  We have also invited staff from San Diego State University’s Visualization Laboratory and DHS Science and Technology Directorate to discuss their use of social media and large data sets in major disaster response.”

Arizona InfraGard and the InfraGard National Members Alliance are proud to present this one-day conference event focused on White Collar Crime.  Frank Abagnale, one of the world's most respected authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure document is the Keynote Speaker.  Mr. Abagnale, whose early exploits were depicted in his best-selling book, Catch Me if You Can, has advised hundred of corporations and government agencies around the world for over 35 years.

Supporting Mr. Abagnale's keynote, the conference will feature an interactive panel discussion with Commissioner Judy Lowe from the Arizona Department of Real Estate, Chief Counsel Dena Benjamin from the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and Assistant Supervisor Robert Charlton from the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions.  The panel topic will focus on issues and concerns as it pertains to the real estate and financial markets in Arizona today.
